SKAGIT COUNTY, WA — Multiple agencies responded to a crash early Tuesday evening on State Route 20 near Mount Vernon, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
Officials said the accident occurred on the eastbound highway just west of Best Road, northwest of the city. It was first reported by WSDOT at 5:25 p.m.
The circumstances behind the incident remain unclear, but the right lane was blocked as WSDOT’s Incident Response Team, the Washington State Patrol, and tow crews responded to the scene. Motorists were asked to use extra caution as they approach the area.

By 5:49 p.m., nearly 25 minutes after WSDOT’s initial tweet, the scene was reported cleared with all lanes reopened to traffic.
