KING COUNTY, WA — Several people were injured early Sunday when a stolen car carrying three teens crashed into a hotel in SeaTac, according to KOMO News.
The incident occurred at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel – Seattle Airport, on the 18700 block of International Boulevard (State Route 99). Authorities with the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) were called to the scene just before 1:00 a.m.
An early investigation indicates the driver, 15, crashed the stolen vehicle into the valet area, hitting multiple people. The driver then allegedly exited the vehicle and engaged in a physical fight with another person before re-entering the vehicle and fleeing. Officials said several hotel employees suffered minor injuries, but it was unclear whether they had to be taken to a hospital.
The teen driver refused to stop as a deputy began to pursue the vehicle, which later hit an apartment complex. At that point, a 15-year-old male passenger with an ankle monitor got out of the vehicle and was apprehended by authorities.
After striking multiple vehicles, including a KCSO patrol car, the stolen car continued onto I-5 southbound despite spike strips placed by deputies.
The vehicle eventually crashed at the 272nd intersection after its driver lost control. The driver and the remaining passenger, a 15-year-old girl, were taken into custody.
While the driver was transported to a hospital for undisclosed injuries, he is expected to be booked into juvenile detention. Pending charges may include “DUI, Vehicular Assault, and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.”
Officials said the other teens will likely be released into the custody of their guardians.
