SEATTLE, WA — A 25-year-old woman has died after a multi-vehicle crash involving a DUI suspect in Seattle’s Licton Springs neighborhood, reports KOMO News.

The fatal collision occurred in the 9600 block of Aurora Avenue North. Seattle Police responded to the scene after receiving multiple calls shortly before 3:30 p.m.

According to authorities, a male driver operating a forklift traveled onto Aurora Avenue from the west side of the roadway and proceeded east until the forklift collided with a southbound SUV. The impact of that crash then sent the SUV into a landscape truck.

Seattle Fire Department crews rushed the SUV’s two occupants, a 25-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man, to Harborview Medical Center. The woman, who had been listed in critical condition, was later pronounced deceased. The 27-year-old man remains in serious condition.

Authorities said the driver of the landscape truck, 30, was in stable condition.

The driver of the forklift, a 54-year-old man, was not reported hurt. He was taken into custody at the scene after being suspected of being under the influence of intoxicants. Officers transported the suspect to the SPD’s North Precinct, where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert. He has since been booked into King County Jail for an investigation into vehicular homicide.

The case is being handled by detectives with the SPD’s Traffic Collision Investigation Squad.
