KING COUNTY, WA — One person was hurt late Saturday afternoon when their car hit a Washington State Department of Transportation vehicle on Interstate 5 in Shoreline, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The collision occurred on the northbound interstate near North 175th Street, in the city’s Ridgecrest area. Trooper Rick Johnson first tweeted about the incident at 4:22 p.m.
According to the trooper, a crew member with WSDOT’s Incident Response Team (IRT) was outside of their marked vehicle and tending to a disabled vehicle. At one point, another driver in a passenger car drifted onto the shoulder and collided with the WSDOT pickup truck.
Officials said only minor injuries to the striking driver were reported.
