PIERCE COUNTY, WA — One person died late Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle in Tacoma’s East Side neighborhood, according to the Tacoma Police Department.
The fatal incident occurred on Pacific Avenue (State Route 7) between 58th Street and South 60th Street. Tacoma Police responded to the scene shortly before 11:03 p.m.
At this time, it remains unclear what led up to the event, but a section of the road was shut down in both directions during the response and initial investigation.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the victim was pronounced deceased on the scene or at a hospital, and no information on the driver has been disclosed.
The department’s Collision Investigation Team was called to the scene.
Shortly after 1:00 a.m., nearly two hours later, Pacific Avenue was reopened to traffic.
