SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — A 41-year-old Everett man died early Tuesday after being hit by a semi-truck on Interstate 405 in north Bothell, according to KOMO News.
The fatal incident occurred on the southbound lanes just north of the offramp to State Route 527 (Bothell-Everett. Highway), at about 4:25 a.m.
A preliminary investigation by the Washington State Patrol indicates the man was driving southbound on I-405 when their vehicle collided with a guardrail along the right side of the roadway. After their vehicle came to a rest, it was struck by another southbound vehicle.
Authorities said the male driver then exited their car and was standing in lane 2 when the vacant vehicle was hit by two separate vehicles. Moments later, the man was struck by two other vehicles, including a semi-truck. First responders pronounced him deceased at the scene.
A section of southbound I-405 from the I-5 interchange and SR-527 was shut down during the initial investigation. Both north and southbound I-5 exit ramps to I-405 southbound in Lynnwood, as well as the SR-525 southbound offramp to I-405 southbound, were also blocked.
The WSP said a total of six vehicles were involved, and all other involved drivers remained at the scene after the crash.
At this time authorities have not confirmed the cause of the accident.
