PIERCE COUNTY, WA — One person was injured Thursday afternoon in a rollover crash involving a semi-tractor-trailer near south Eatonville, reports KIRO 7 Seattle.

The accident took place in the 45000 block of Alder Cutoff Road East. Deputies with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at about 4:00 p.m.

It was unclear what caused the wreck, but the semi ran off the roadway and rolled 15 feet down an embankment before coming to rest on its side. A power pole was hit and downed during the incident, cutting power in a number of nearby households.

By the time deputies arrived, the driver had managed to self-extricate from the semi with only minor injuries. No impairment was suspected.

A section of the road was blocked as tow crews worked to clear the semi and resulting debris.

The Washington State Patrol’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement division was called to the scene for an investigation.
