SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — One person was hospitalized Wednesday night after being struck by a United States Postal Service truck near northeast Monroe, reports KOMO News.

The incident occurred in the area of Woods Creek Road and Ingraham Road, shortly after 8:00 p.m.

It was unclear what led up to the event, but Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue (SRFR) crews said a man was riding a bicycle when he was hit by the mail truck. The victim, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center with “significant injuries.”

No injuries to the USPS were reported.

A section of Woods Creek Road was shut down for an extended time during the response.

At this time, an investigation by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office remains underway. Authorities noted the crash occurred on a dark span of road with no shoulder access.
