PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A multi-vehicle accident Monday morning closed three right lanes on Interstate 5 near east Lakewood, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The collision occurred on the southbound lanes at Exit 127 to State ROute 512. It was first reported by Trooper Robert Reyer at 6:00 a.m.
Details remain limited, but authorities said two semi-trucks and a passenger vehicle were involved.

By 6:06 a.m., crews had been able to clear all three vehicles to the right shoulder, restoring all traffic lanes. Despite the clearance, traffic was still backed up to South 72nd Street. Morning commuters coming from Tacoma were warned of lingering congestion in the area.
Traffic is currently backed up to north of S 72nd Street in @CityofTacoma
