by | Jan 26, 2023 | Accidents in the News |

KING COUNTY, WA — A vehicle crash Thursday morning closed the HOV lane on Interstate 5 in northeast Shoreline, creating long delays in the area, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The collision took place on the southbound lanes just south of Northeast 205th Street, in the city’s Echo Lake area. It was first reported by WSDOT at 6:10 a.m.

Few details have been released at this time, but authorities said a bus was involved in the crash. Shortly after the initial report, WSDOT’s Incident Response Team and tow crews responded to the scene.

Southbound commuters coming from Shoreline, Mountlake Terrace, Edmonds, and Lynnwood were advised of a four-mile long backup impacting traffic. Earlier departure times were recommended.

By 6:40 a.m., crews had cleared the scene to the right shoulder and all lanes were announced reopened, but delays lingered due to a visual distraction.

Authorities have not clarified what kind of bus was involved, and no injuries have been reported at this time.
