TACOMA, WA — Three people were injured Wednesday afternoon due to a single-vehicle accident on an Interstate 5 exit ramp in south Tacoma, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The collision occurred on the Exit 129 ramp connecting I-5 northbound to South 72nd Street. It was first reported by Trooper Robert Reyer at 1:56 p.m.
Few details have been provided at this time, but a passenger car appeared to have veered off the ramp and collided with a tree. Authorities said “excessive speed” was determined to have been the cause of the wreck.
The vehicle’s three occupants suffered minor injuries, but it was unclear whether anyone had to be taken to a hospital.
Multiple WSP troopers, along with crews from the Washington State Department of Transportation – Tacoma and Tacoma Fire Department were at the scene.
The offramp was blocked during the response but was later announced reopened at 2:38 p.m.
