KING COUNTY, WA — Multiple emergency crews were called to a collision Thursday afternoon on State Route 167 in south Renton, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The accident happened on the southbound lanes at Southwest 43rd Street and was first reported by WSDOT at 2:45 p.m.
Authorities have not shared the cause of the wreck, but by 2:50 p.m., medics, fire crews, and WSDOT’s Incident Response Team had all responded to the scene. The two right lanes were shut down during the response.
At 3:19 p.m., the closure remained in place, but the HOV lane was made available to all vehicles. Motorists were asked to find alternate routes, as a three-mile backup had formed in the area.
By 4:35 a.m., nearly two hours after the initial report, only one right lane remained closed, but the HOV lane returned to being a toll road.
As of this writing, no injuries have been confirmed.
