SEATTLE, WA — A 29-year-old Everett woman has died following a multi-vehicle wreck Thursday morning off Interstate 5 in Seattle’s Northgate neighborhood, according to KOMO News.

The fatal crash happened on Northeast 130th Street near the I-5 northbound offramp at about 1:00 a.m.

An early investigation indicates a 45-year-old man was intoxicated when he drove into a construction zone. Moments later, his car crashed onto the interstate and collided with at least three other vehicles.

The Everett woman, who was the driver of one of the impacted vehicles and who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered critical injuries. She was rushed to Harborview Medical Center where she died Friday morning.

The causing driver, who was also hospitalized, was taken into custody. He has since been booked into King County Jail and was initially charged with vehicular assault. Officials said the man could now face different charges for the woman’s death.
