SEATTLE, WA — A single-vehicle wreck blocked multiple lanes late Tuesday afternoon on the Ballard Bridge in northeast Seattle’s Ballard area, according to King 5.

The Seattle Department of Transportation said the collision occurred on the southbound lanes from 15th Avenue North at around 4:00 p.m.

It was unclear what caused the accident, but a driver in a red pickup truck nearly crashed over the bridge railing.

A photo taken at the scene shows the vehicle’s front two wheels hanging off the roadway.

Seattle Fire Department crews said the driver was able to self-extricate before first responders arrived. That person was not reported hurt, but it was unclear whether anyone else was injured.

As a result of the wreck, two southbound lanes and the left northbound lane were shut down, causing long delays in the area.

By 5:30 p.m., the pickup truck had been cleared from the roadway.
