PIERCE COUNTY, WA — One person was hospitalized Monday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle on State Route 7 in Spanaway, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The collision took place on the northbound lanes at 173rd Street South. It was first reported by Trooper Robert Reyer at 2:56 p.m.
Officials have not disclosed the circumstances behind the incident, but the pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was rushed to an area hospital.
All northbound lanes were shut down, forcing northbound traffic to divert onto a single southbound lane. Only one southbound lane was open for southbound drivers.

It was not immediately clear whether the driver remained at the scene. No charges or citations have been reported at this time.
