News: Motorcycle officer left critically hurt after crash in downtown Bellevue

KING COUNTY, WA — A BPD officer was hospitalized with critical injuries Monday morning after his motorcycle was hit by a car in downtown Bellevue, according to KOMO News.

The collision occurred in the 500 block of Bellevue Way Northeast, near Bellevue Downtown Park and Bellevue Square. It was first reported by the Bellevue Fire Department at about 9:55 a.m.

Officials with the Bellevue Police Department said the officer, 34, was operating a motorcycle northbound on the road when his bike was struck by a driver in a white car.

First responders rushed the officer to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A section of Bellevue Way Northeast was blocked from Southeast Wolverine Way to Southeast 6th Street. Shortly after 1:30 p.m., the roadway was reopened to traffic.

At this time, authorities have not released any details regarding the other driver.

An investigation by the Washington State Patrol was underway.
