SEATTLE, WA — Two people were injured, one critically, Thursday morning in a four-car crash off Interstate 5 near Seattle’s Northgate area, reports KOMO News.
The Washington State Patrol responded to the scene near the I-5 northbound offramp to Northeast 130th Street at around 1:00 a.m.
According to authorities, a 45-year-old man was driving a car on Northeast 130th Street when the vehicle ran off the roadway, resulting in a crash that impacted three other vehicles.
The WSP said the causing driver was taken into custody for DUI and reckless driving. The suspect sustained non-life-threatening injuries, but it was unclear whether he was taken to a hospital.
A woman in one of the other vehicles suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Harborview Medical Center. No updates on her condition have been released at this time.
All northbound lanes of I-5 were blocked at the exit ramp and would remain closed for over 7 hours.
By 8:38 a.m., officials announced the scene had been cleared and all lanes were reopened to commuters.
