KING COUNTY, WA — Two people were injured Tuesday morning in a fiery multi-vehicle wreck on Interstate 90 over the East Channel Bridge, according to King 5.

The accident happened on the eastbound lanes over the bridge connecting Mercer Island and Bellevue. It was first reported by the Washington State Department of Transportation at about 7:15 a.m.

It remains unclear what led up to the collision, but the Washington State Patrol said three vehicles were involved, causing two vehicles to catch fire.

Bellevue Fire Department crews confirmed two patients were transported to a local hospital. At this time, the severity of their conditions has not been disclosed. Two other involved parties were not reported hurt.

East Fire and Rescue noted an off-duty fire captain and one of the involved drivers were able to rescue another driver who was trapped in their burning truck. Fire crews later learned the truck had been carrying multiple Acetylene tanks, which are known to be highly flammable.

No further information has been released at this time.
