THURSTON COUNTY, WA — A 30-year-old man died Wednesday morning after a wreck that left another man and a baby injured on Yelm Highway near southeast Olympia, reports FOX 13 Seattle.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said the fatal collision occurred at Johnson Road Southeast shortly before 7:00 a.m.

According to officials, the 30-year-old man was driving westbound on the highway when, for reasons still unknown, he veered across the center line and into the opposing lane. His vehicle collided head-on with another car.

Officials confirmed the causing driver died from his injuries.

Two occupants in the other vehicle, a man in his 40s and an 8-month-old baby, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

A section of the highway between Johnson Road Southeast and Meridian Road Southeast was shut down for multiple hours during the response and initial investigation.

By 12:30 p.m., all lanes were reopened to traffic.

No further information has been released at this time.
