KING COUNTY, WA — At least one person was hurt Thursday morning when a pole broke and fell on southbound Interstate 5 near northeast Des Moines, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The incident occurred near South 216th Street and was first reported by Trooper Rick Johnson at 8:51 a.m.
For reasons not disclosed, a wooden pole from a nearby construction site broke off and came crashing down on the southbound interstate, striking at least two vehicles.
Photos taken at the scene show substantial damage to one side of a passenger car and the front-passenger side of a semi-truck.
The WSP said minor injuries were reported, but it was unclear who was hurt and whether they had to be taken to a hospital.
