KITSAP COUNTY, WA — Three people, including a DUI suspect, were hospitalized Sunday afternoon after a collision on Washington Highway 3 near north Poulsbo, reports Kitsap Sun.

The Washington State Patrol said the crash occurred at the intersection with Tytler Road, in the Breidablik area.

A preliminary investigation shows a 36-year-old Bremerton man was behind the wheel of an Infiniti heading southbound on the highway when he ran a red light. Officials said as he tried to turn left onto Tytler Road, the Infiniti entered the path of northbound Mazda SUV, causing a crash. The impact of the initial crash sent the Infiniti into a nearby Pontiac and then through the intersection until it collided with a utility pole.

The driver of the Infiniti and his two passengers were transported to St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale with undisclosed injuries.

According to the WSP, the causing driver was suspected of impairment and faces an investigation into vehicular assault.

The drivers of the Mazda and the Pontiac were not reported hurt.

Troopers noted the Infiniti and the Mazda were totaled in the wreck while the Pontiac sustained “reportable” damage.
