The incident took place in the 13200 block of the northbound highway at around 8:10 p.m.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the Edmonds man had just gotten out of his vehicle, which had become disabled on the right shoulder in a prior wreck. Moments later, he and his car were hit by another vehicle that traveled onto the shoulder.
First responders rushed the victim to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.
It was unclear whether the driver of the striking vehicle, a 29-year-old Lynnwood man, was injured in the wreck.
An investigation was underway, but the WSP said they believe drugs or alcohol was a factor.
No pending charges or citations have been reported as of this writing.
