THURSTON COUNTY, WA — One person died Monday evening after a single-vehicle accident on an Interstate 5 entrance ramp near southwest Olympia, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The fatal crash happened along the onramp from Tumwater Boulevard Southwest to I-5 southbound. Troopers, firefighters, and crews with the Washington State Department of Transportation all responded to the scene shortly before 6:38 a.m.
Few details have been released at this time, but the WSP said a vehicle traveled off the roadway and collided with a tree.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene, confirmed officials.
The entire onramp was shut down as an investigation was conducted. Though traffic was not impacted, motorists were asked to proceed with caution through the area.

At 9:32 a.m., nearly three hours after the initial report, the scene had been cleared from the ramp and all lanes were reopened to traffic.
