News: WSP responds to collision on I-5 in Seattle’s Georgetown area

SEATTLE, WA — A vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon closed an HOV lane on Interstate 5 near south Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The accident took place on the southbound interstate at Exit 161 to South Albro Place. Washington State Patrol troopers responded to the scene shortly before 12:30 p.m.

Officials have not provided details regarding the cause of the wreck, but footage taken at the scene suggests multiple vehicles were involved. As many as four passenger vehicles can be seen at rest along the left shoulder.

By 1:19 p.m., about 50 minutes later, the scene had been cleared from the roadway and all lanes were reopened to traffic.

No injuries have been reported as of this writing.
