PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A woman was hospitalized Monday after a driver crashed into a storefront near South Hill Mall in south Puyallup, according to FOX13 Seattle.

Puyallup Police and crews from both Central Pierce Fire & Rescue and Station 72 responded to the scene at Melody Boba House off South Meridian Street. The incident was first reported by FOX13 at 11:30 a.m.

Fire crews told The News Tribune a driver in the parking lot had accidentally stepped on their gas pedal, causing their car to crash through the business and pin a customer to the counter.

Bystanders helped remove the victim from the wreckage before first responders arrived. The patient was then taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

No other injuries were reported, but authorities said the shop sustained extensive damage. The business is expected to remain closed for an extended time until repairs can be made.

At this time, no charges or citations have been reported.
