SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — A two-vehicle accident Wednesday evening caused a three-mile traffic backup on Interstate 5 near south Marysville, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The collision occurred on the southbound lanes near 12th Street Northeast, in an area just north of Everett. It was first reported by the WSDOT at 5:11 p.m.

Officials have not disclosed details on the cause of the wreck, but both involved vehicles sustained significant damage. Two tow trucks were required at the scene, keeping the right lane and right shoulder blocked for more than 30 minutes.

By 5:46 p.m., crews had cleared the scene from the roadway and all lanes were reopened to traffic.
As of this writing, it remains unclear whether anyone was seriously injured.
