KING COUNTY, WA — A 52-year-old Renton man died late Monday after a motorcycle accident on State Route 99 near northwest Tukwila, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The fatal wreck occurred on the southbound highway at State Route 599 and was first reported by the WSP at 10:25 p.m.

An early investigation shows the man was riding a 2012 Yamaha YZFR1 motorcycle southbound in lane 1 at a high rate of speed. At one point, the rider failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and lost control. The motorcycle traveled into the right shoulder and hit the elevated gore point, causing the rider to eject and hit the pavement as he came to rest on the right shoulder. The bike proceeded down the offramp until it collided with a concrete barrier and came to a stop in lane 1.

The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene, confirms officials. He was not wearing a United States Department of Transportation-compliant helmet at the time of the accident.

Troopers noted the motorcycle was totaled and towed from the site.

No further information has been made available at this time.
