KITSAP COUNTY, WA — A 39-year-old man was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after his motorcycle was struck by a pickup truck on Sedgwick Road in Port Orchard, reports Kitsap Sun.

The collision occurred at the intersection with Bodle Road, in the southeast area of the city. Washington State Patrol troopers responded to the scene shortly after 4:18 p.m.

According to the WSP, a 29-year-old man was behind the wheel of a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck when he pulled out onto the road and failed to yield to the victim, who was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Officials said the motorcyclist made an effort to avoid a collision, but the rear panel of the pickup struck the bike.

The rider, who suffered an apparent broken leg and hand, was rushed to Tacoma’s St. Joseph Medical Center.

The other driver was not reported hurt but received a citation for “failure to yield.”
