TACOMA, WA — Three people were injured Monday afternoon when a two-vehicle collision sent one car crashing into a Tacoma residence, reports The News Tribune.

The accident took place at the corner of East J Street and East 35th Street, in the city’s McKinley neighborhood. Tacoma Police were called to the scene shortly after 12:30 p.m.

According to authorities, a silver car was traveling northbound toward the intersection at the same time a black car was approaching eastbound. The black car collided with the side of the silver car, sending both vehicles onto a nearby property. While the black car came to a stop along the sidewalk, the silver car was pushed past the front gate of the home and into the walls of the building.

No one in the home was reported hurt, but the male driver of the black car was left in critical condition. A male and a female occupant in the silver car both suffered less severe injuries. All three patients were transported to local hospital.

An investigation was underway, but officials said the driver of the black car appears to have been driving over the speed limit. It was not immediately clear whether impairment was suspected.
