KITSAP COUNTY, WA — Two passengers died early Saturday morning after a car crashed into a building in north Bremerton, according to KIRO 7 Seattle.

Bremerton Police responded to the scene on Wheaton Way near Sheridan Road, in the city’s Sheridan Park neighborhood, at about 2:00 a.m.

A preliminary investigation shows a car was traveling northbound on the road at a high rate of speed when its driver veered into the opposing lane and lost control. Shortly after, the vehicle went airborne and collided with a building.

Two passengers were pronounced deceased at the scene, confirmed authorities.

The driver and one other occupant were both airlifted to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center. No updates have been shared regarding the severity of their conditions.

Police noted all occupants in the impacted vehicle ranged between 21 to 26 years of age.

A section of Wheaton Way was shut down in the aftermath of the crash and reopened several hours later at 7:45 a.m.

An investigation was in progress, but officials said alcohol and speed are believed to have contributed to the accident.
