WALLA WALLA COUNTY, WA — A 16-year-old Pasco boy faces charges after a wreck early Monday that injured two teenage passengers on State Route 12 near Burbank, reports KOMO News.

The collision occurred on the westbound lanes of SR-12, near the exit to SR-124, at around 2:52 a.m.

According to authorities, the boy was driving a car westbound on SR-12 while fleeing a marked Washington State Patrol vehicle that had its emergency equipment activated.

As the teen driver approached the top of the offramp, he lost control and crashed the car off the roadway.

Two male passengers, aged 15 and 16, were taken to a nearby hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The driver, who was not reported hurt, received a citation but was released from the scene following the accident. Charges are expected to be referred to a prosecutor in the coming days.

An investigation remains in progress, but intoxication is not believed to have been a factor.

The involved vehicle was totaled in the accident and had to be towed from the site.
