KING COUNTY, WA — A 24-year-old woman was arrested for hit-and-run and suspected DUI Wednesday morning after an injury crash near northeast Bellevue, according to KOMO News.

The collision occurred in the area of 148th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 22nd Street, shortly after 9:20 a.m.

Bellevue Police said the events unfolded when officers approached to wake the suspect, who was found asleep in a car outside a nearby Fred Meyer store. When the suspect work and saw the officers, she used a screwdriver to start the vehicle and sped away.

The investigation indicates the officers had not been pursuing the suspect when she drove through a nearby intersection at a high rate of speed and struck another vehicle. The impact of the crash caused the other car to roll multiple times.

Medics transported the victim to a local hospital with injuries considered non-life-threatening.

According to authorities, the suspect exited her vehicle and tried to flee the scene on foot, but was apprehended. She has since been booked into jail and faces felony charges of hit-and-run and DUI.
