KING COUNTY, WA — A man was seriously hurt Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Maple Valley Highway near east Renton, according to Renton Police Department.
Renton Police responded to the scene in the 3300 block of the highway (SR-169) shortly before 3:14 p.m.
It was not immediately clear what caused the collision, but photos taken at the scene suggest a white sedan collided with the side of a red pickup truck.
Officials confirmed a male driver suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. No updates on his condition or that of the other driver have been shared at this time.

A section of the highway from Interstate 405 was shut down in both directions during the emergency response and investigation. Motorists were asked to detour around the area.

By 5:33 p.m., more than two hours after the crash, the scene had been cleared and the highway was reopened to traffic.
