KING COUNTY, WA — A car caught fire early Monday on Interstate 5 near the Westfield Southcenter shopping mall in Tukwila, according to KOMO News.

The incident occurred on the southbound interstate just south of State Route 518. It was first reported by the Tukwila Fire Department at 12:08 a.m.

The circumstances behind the fire were not immediately clear, but Tukwila Fire Department, the Washington State Patrol, and Washington State Department of Transportation crews all responded to the scene.

Tukwila Fire officials said crews had to use a gas-powered circular saw to open the hood, in order to put out flames in the vehicle’s engine compartment.

Two left lanes were blocked in the area, and motorists were asked to slow down while passing through.

As of this writing, no injuries have been reported.
