SEATTLE, WA — A 71-year-old woman died Sunday night after being hit by a driver while crossing a road in north Seattle’s Haller Lake neighborhood, according to KIRO 7 Seattle.
Seattle Police responded to the scene in the area of North 141st Street and Aurora Avenue North shortly before 10:00 p.m.
A preliminary investigation shows an 80-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a northbound SUV when she struck the female pedestrian, who had been walking across Aurora Avenue North outside of a marked crosswalk.
Seattle Fire Department crews confirmed the victim died from her injuries at the scene.
Officials said the driver alerted authorities and remained at the scene until officers arrived. Impairment is not believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash.
An investigation was underway.
