SEATTLE, WA — At least one person reported minor injuries Thursday morning after the Cathlamet Ferry crashed into the Fauntleroy dock in west Seattle, reports WestsideSeattle.

The U.S. Coast Guard, Washington State Patrol, and Seattle Police all responded to the scene off Fauntleroy Way Southwest, shortly before 9:30 a.m.

A Washington State Ferries worker told authorities the ferry approached the dock at a high rate of speed and lost control. Moments later, it hit the dock’s barrier, causing major damage to the port side of the 328-foot vessel.

Only minor injuries were reported, but it was unclear whether anyone required transport to a hospital.

Officials said several vehicles on the ferry sustained heavy damage.

By 4:00 p.m. that afternoon, the Fauntleroy Ferry dock had reopened after the Cathlamet ferry had been removed and docked at Vashon.
