News: Man hospitalized after multi-vehicle wreck on US-12 near Ground Mound

THURSTON COUNTY, WA — A 60-year-old Rochester man was sent to a hospital last Saturday afternoon after a multi-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 12 near Grand Mound, reports Chronline.

The Washington State Patrol said the crash happened near Pecan Street Northwest on July 2, at about 3:15 p.m.

An early investigation found the man was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Corvette southbound on Pecan Street when he failed to yield before entering the highway. Moments later, the Corvette collided with a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by a 46-year-old Vancouver man.

Officials said the impact of that crash sent debris flying at a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by a 19-year-old Rochester resident.

Medics transported the driver of the Corvette to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center. The extent of his injuries has not been disclosed.

The two other drivers were evaluated before they were medically cleared and released from the scene.

An investigation was underway, but officials said drugs and alcohol were determined not to be factors in the crash. All drivers were also wearing their seat belts at the time.
