News: Woman dies after jumping from south Seattle overpass, hit-and-run driver sought

SEATTLE, WA — A woman died last Friday afternoon after jumping off a highway overpass and being hit by a vehicle in Seattle’s North Beacon Hill neighborhood, reports the Washington State Patrol.

The incident occurred on the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 under the South Columbian Way bridge at about 12:42 p.m.

According to officials, the female pedestrian had jumped off the overpass and landed in lane 3 of the southbound interstate. Moments later, while laying in the roadway, she was hit by a vehicle whose driver failed to stop at the scene.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

At this time, no further information has been released but an investigation was underway.

As of this writing, the WSP has not released a description of the suspect vehicle.
