PIERCE COUNTY, WA — One person was seriously injured Saturday evening in a motorcycle crash involving a car on State Route 16 near central Tacoma, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The accident happened on the westbound highway at Exit 1B to Union Avenue, near the Tacoma Central shopping center. It was first reported by Trooper Robert Reyer at 7:38 p.m.
It was unclear what led up to the wreck, but officials said the motorcyclist suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital and has since also been charged with reckless driving.

No information on the other driver has been released at this time.
The accident left the exit ramp completely blocked for about three hours.

By 10:38 a.m., the scene had been cleared and the offramp was reopened to normal traffic.
