PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A 27-year-old man died late Tuesday night after a high-speed motorcycle accident in northeast Tacoma, according to The News Tribune.
Tacoma police and fire crews responded to the scene in the 4100 block of Marine View Drive shortly after 11:21 p.m.
A preliminary investigation found the man was riding a motorcycle northbound at a high rate of speed when, for reasons still being investigated, he veered past the road’s double yellow lines and into the southbound lanes. Moments later, he struck a utility pole off the roadway.
Officers administered life-saving measures to the victim, but fire medics later pronounced him deceased at the scene.
A section of the road was shut down during the response but was reopened more than three hours later at around 2:30 a.m.
No further information has been released at this time, but an investigation was underway.
