FRANKLIN COUNTY, WA — A 56-year-old Kennewick man died early Friday after a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 182 in Pasco, according to KOMO News.

The wreck occurred on the eastbound interstate near North 4th Avenue at about 2:00 a.m.

Little information has been provided at this time, but the Washington State Patrol said the man was driving a pickup truck eastbound when lost control of the vehicle. Moments later, he collided with the guardrail.

Pasco Police said despite life-saving measures, the man died from his injuries at the scene. No other occupants were in the vehicle at the time.

It was not immediately clear whether drugs or alcohol factored into the crash, but officials noted the victim was found to have not been wearing a seat belt.

All eastbound lanes of I-182 at North 4th Avenue were shut down for hours following the crash.

An investigation by the WSP remains ongoing.
