PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A 28-year-old Puyallup man has been identified as the driver killed last Friday in a crash involving a Pierce Transit bus near Tacoma’s McKinley Park, reports The News Tribune.
The fatal accident occurred in the 700 block of East 32nd Street on the evening of May 27.
According to the Tacoma Police Department, the man was driving an SUV when he veered past the center line and collided head-on with a Route 42 Pierce Transit bus.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene, confirmed authorities. A news release from the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office indicated he died from “multiple blunt-force injuries.”
Pierce Transit officials said no passengers were on the bus at the time, but its driver suffered minor injuries.
As of this writing, no details regarding the cause of the crash have been shared. It is unclear whether drugs or alcohol factored into the crash.
