THURSTON COUNTY, WA — A 33-year-old man was seriously hurt Friday night in a motorcycle accident on U.S. Highway 101 near west Olympia, reports The Chronicle.

The collision occurred on the northbound highway near Mud Bay Road on June 24, at around 10:30 p.m.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the motorcyclist was riding northbound behind an SUV driven by a 59-year-old man. As the motorcyclist tried to pass the SUV on the right side, he collided with the vehicle.

Officials said the impact of the crash sent the motorcyclist into a ditch while the SUV came to a stop on the highway’s right shoulder.

Medics rushed the motorcyclist, a Tenino resident, to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center. No updates on his condition have been disclosed as of this writing.

The driver of the SUV was not reported hurt.

Washington State Patrol troopers had the right lane shut down for about three hours while an investigation was being conducted.
