SEATTLE, WA — A man died last Friday night after being struck by a vehicle whose driver initially fled the scene in West Seattle’s Seaview neighborhood, reports King 5.
Seattle police and fire crews responded to the scene in the 5400 block of California Avenue Southwest, shortly after 10:00 p.m.
A preliminary investigation shows three people had just gotten dropped off by a vehicle along the street. As the three pedestrians crossed the road mid-block, one of them was hit by a northbound car.
Seattle Fire Department medics pronounced the victim, an adult male, deceased at the scene.
Police said the fled the scene after the crash but later returned to the site and cooperated with investigators.
No further information has been released at this time, but the case is being handled by the department’s Traffic Collision Investigation Squad. At this time, authorities do not believe impairment contributed to the fatal incident.
