News: One killed, multiple injured in wrong-way crash near Auburn

KING COUNTY, WA — One person died late Sunday night after a multi-vehicle wreck that injured several others on State Route 18 near Auburn, according to KIRO 7 Seattle.

Washington State Patrol responded to the scene on the eastbound lanes near SR-167, shortly after receiving calls about a wrong-way driver at about 8:55 p.m.

Few details have been disclosed at this time, but troopers said three cars were involved, including one vehicle that had been going westbound in the eastbound lanes.

The wrong-way driver died from their injuries at the scene, confirmed officials.

Multiple other people suffered serious injuries. No updates on their condition have been shared as of this writing,

A section of SR-18 between Weyerhaeuser Way at SR-167 was shut down for several hours, and all eastbound traffic was forced to divert.

An investigation was underway.
