News: Young man dies after being hit by drivers on SR-7 near Spanaway

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A 22-year-old Tacoma man died early Thursday morning after being struck by two vehicles on State Route 7 near Spanaway, according to KOMO News.

The fatal incident took place on a span of the southbound highway at about 12:54 a.m.

Little information has been released at this time, but the Washington State Patrol said two cars were traveling southbound when they hit the pedestrian. Moments after, one of the drivers fled the scene.

The other driver stayed at the scene, where the victim succumbed to his injuries.

The road was closed for nearly four hours during the emergency response.

As of this writing, authorities have not released a description of the hit-and-run suspect or vehicle. The exact location where the event occurred has also not been disclosed.

An investigation by the WSP remains underway.
