SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — A 2-year-old girl died last Friday after falling out from a moving car and being struck by another vehicle in south Everett, according to KIRO 7 Seattle.

The fatal incident took place on 19th Avenue Southeast, a little south of 112th Street Southeast and north of Silver Lake.

An early investigation by Everett Police found that the girl had been traveling with her parents in a southbound vehicle. As the vehicle crossed the intersection, the toddler fell out onto the roadway. A vehicle traveling behind the family was unable to stop in time, running over the victim.

First responders administered life-saving measures to the girl, but she died from her injuries at the scene.

Authorities said the striking driver stopped after the crash and is not expected to be charged.

An investigation into the cause of the child’s fall out of the vehicle was underway. Everett police declined to disclose whether the girl’s parents may face charges.
