KING COUNTY, WA — One person died Monday afternoon after a two-vehicle collision that injured another on Interstate 90 east of Preston, reports Living Snoqualmie.

The Washington State Patrol and crews with Eastside Fire & Rescue responded to the scene on the westbound lanes west of State Route 18. It was first reported by the WSP at 2:48 p.m.

According to authorities, a driver in an eastbound car veered past the median and entered the westbound lanes, where they collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.

The causing driver was pronounced deceased at the scene, confirmed the WSP.

Medics transported the other driver to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

All westbound lanes east of Preston were shut down during the response, but by 3:18 p.m., one lane had reopened. The remainder of the road was expected to stay closed until early evening.

No further updates have been shared at this time, but an investigation was in progress.
