SEATTLE, WA — A vehicle crash late Tuesday afternoon blocked an HOV lane on Interstate 5 near Seattle’s SoDo neighborhood, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The collision occurred on the southbound interstate just south of I-90 and was first reported by the WSDOT shortly after 3:00 p.m.
Authorities have not disclosed details on the circumstances behind the crash, but Seattle Fire crews, WSDOT’s Incident Response Team, and EMS personnel responded to the scene. An additional left lane was closed to accommodate emergency crews.

By 3:35 p.m., the event had caused a four-mile backup. Motorists were asked to find alternate routes to avoid delays.
Shortly after, the scene was cleared from the roadway.
