PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A 60-year-old man was hospitalized Thursday morning after being struck by a vehicle near South Hill Mall in south Puyallup, reports KIRO 7 News.
The incident took place in the 2200 block of North Meridian Avenue, near the intersection with Valley Avenue Northeast, at around 6:00 a.m.
Few details have been released at this time, but Puyallup Police Department said the pedestrian appeared to have been in the middle of the block when he was hit.
The victim suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital.
Sections of the roadway were shut down during the emergency response, causing delays in the area.
An investigation was in progress, but as of this writing, the driver was not suspected of impairment.
